E-2 is temporary. EB-5 is an immigrant-investor route. Company-expansion and employment categories use different employer, company, role, credential, and evidence tests.

Treaty nationality
Canada appears on the official treaty-country list, but personal and enterprise nationality still require proof.
No universal minimum
The investment must be substantial for the specific enterprise. Official rules do not publish one universal dollar minimum for every business.
Temporary status
E-2 does not automatically create permanent residence, a visa stamp, border admission, or unlimited guaranteed renewals.

Capital and jobs
Current law sets investment thresholds and generally requires ten qualifying full-time jobs per investor.
At-risk investment
Immigration approval and financial safety are separate. Capital can be lost and repayment is not guaranteed.
